Words, Wands and Happiness
By Melissa Zollo
The Imagination has been called the “Scissors of the Mind” because it continually cuts and pastes the images we envision onto the canvas of our reality. Sooner or later, we encounter these mental constructs in our external world. To master the discipline of imagination, it's crucial to understand how our mind functions, or else we risk missing the opportunity to "Know Thyself" as a creative force in the Universe.
The Secret Language of Feelings
Whatever is deeply felt or vividly imagined tends to manifest in reality. Imagine facing life's challenges, problems, or obstacles without succumbing to distress, panic, rage, or depression. Would this lead to happiness? And does effectively dealing with issues contribute to daily happiness?
Recently, I met a woman who had the privilege of financial support allowing her to stay home, rest, renew, and recharge. However, instead of enjoying this gift, she spent her time worrying about potential problems, thereby diminishing her own pleasure and fulfillment. Our conversation led her to understand that her awareness was blocking her happiness; her self-talk was preventing her from embracing the gift, which consequently did not boost her joy or gratitude.
I also encountered a man who had navigated through hardships, including strained family relationships, financial crises, and workplace difficulties. One might expect him to be grateful and happy, yet his demeanor reflected a subdued spirit, more comfortable with crisis than celebration. His lack of recognition for the positive aspects of his life, combined with a misuse of his emotional energy, left him disconnected from joy.
Emotional Resilience is a Way of Life
Emotional resilience is essential to face life unfettered by unrealistic fears, many of which stem from unresolved past issues. Emotional stress is essentially energetic baggage - the pressure of unprocessed feelings. Science now validates what healers and mystics have long known: our state of being, our life energy, shapes our mental and physical health.
Using techniques like Energy Kinesiology and working with the body's meridians, we can unlock the latent power of emotions, paving the way for a more productive, creative, and happy existence. It's not about revisiting why you couldn't get along with siblings or why you're upset with parents; rather, it's about identifying and transforming the underlying emotional attitudes and memories that keep stress locked in place. Through the Power of the Word and Image Re-patterning, we can shift from negative to positive frameworks.
Thought Creates Results
Understanding the power of thought is key to not dwelling on disillusionment, depression, discontent, and unhappiness. While acknowledging pain is necessary, it's even more vital to learn how to transcend these states. Transforming feelings without shame can lead us from sorrow to joy, clarity, and present-moment awareness.
Many take a circuitous route to self-acceptance because they've been conditioned by mental and emotional toxins. For some, the path to happiness is as straightforward as resolving what bothers them, through understanding and acceptance of hidden memories or beliefs, enabling them to deal, feel, and heal.
Taking Control
The most effective step on your journey to happiness is to control the suggestive elements of your life:
What are you listening to?
What topics dominate your conversations?
Is your self-talk empowering?
Or does your environment foster self-condemnation and pain?
John Dryden once remarked, "First we make our habits, and then our habits make us." Are your habits leading to frustration and unhappiness, or peace and calmness?
Happiness is a Choice
Happiness is not dependent on possessions or others but on our internal blueprints, desires, decisions, focus, and connection to our deeper selves. Happiness is directly linked to the thoughts we entertain and the words we use, which act like a wand, setting the stage for our interactions and responses.
By consciously choosing to minimize time spent in negative emotional states, we can shift our focus towards resolution and extend our moments of happiness. With practice, we strengthen our connection to uplifting emotions, expand our minds, and enter fields of joy.
There is No One to Change but Yourself
Ultimately, it's up to each of us to enhance our capacity for happiness in the present and influence the quality of our lives. Never give up on your dreams - they are calling out to you!
